Freebies

Don't you just love finding stuff for free?
This is a little kitchen island table I found discarded
that I just knew had some life left in it!

I can think of dozens of uses for this little table!

Here are the before pics...

It's so nice to have vision...

I've made a little progress on the Settee...
My husband actually hopped in and helped me remove the old
fabric, and it took a combined effort of about 10 hours
to remove about 10 thousand tacks and staples!
Now I know why upholstering is so expensive!
I haven't even begun to buy the fabric and who knows
how long that will take to put on!

I sure hope it's worth all this effort!!!
I'm not sure what color I'm going to paint it, but this
primer sure freshens it up!

Hope you have a great Weekend!

Fleurs Friday

I've been meaning to post some current projects I've been working on
and thought I would do a weekly feature each Friday.
I have run across some fabulous stuff that I'm giving a new life to...
the latest find is a beautiful buffet that had seen better days!

This is how I found it...

After giving it a whitewash and adding some beautiful crystal knobs,
it's now fit for a lovely diningroom...

You can find this sweet piece at my space at Stars in Sellwood...

Here's my next big project...it may be a while until I finish it,
since I need to take a class in upholstery to figure out how to do it!
Supposedly it came from the first Bordello in Nevada...
most likely from the early 1900's!
Can't wait to give this piece a proper life...;)

Here's a project I'm looking forward to tackling soon...
it's a twin size headboard that I'm going to turn into a bench!
I saw a blog where someone took an old headboard and added
some chair legs to it and Voila... turned it into the most
beautiful bench!
Can't wait to show you the results!!

I have a few more projects up my sleeve that I will share with you next week!
Until then...Happy Treasure Hunting!

Snow in March !?!

Woke up to a lovely dusting of snow this morning... This has been the most bazaar winter!

This little fella could use some clothes on!

I am finally coming up for air after hauling home close to 500 pieces of statuary...
Wow this stuff is heavy!! I'm afraid I'm going to need a hernia surgery soon!
Don't miss the Monticello Garden Show starting April 6th...
Sure to be an awesome show!

One Man's Trash...

Is a Junker's Treasure!
OMG...This saying couldn't be more true!
For the last couple of weeks I have been hauling home about 10 tons
of concrete statuary that has been in a reject pile for the past 20 years!
My favorite treasure hunting has been to find old statuary and never in
a million years did I expect to run across this much in one place!
The mossy patina and chippiness is perfection!
As I've been rummaging thru this pile, I couldn't help but see
the correlation between these discarded treasures and my sponsored
child in Nicaragua who has lived in the garbage dump all her life
and is now living a new life with a promising future!
Take a look at this garbage...

Do these look like garbage to you?
So far I've counted 350 pieces!!
I will be going thru the assortment and deciding which pieces I
want to keep and what I want to sell...
Don't miss seeing an exhaustive collection of these treasures at the
Spring Garden Show at Monticello's
from April 6th to May 28th!
I will be teasing you with more pics soon...

Cool Rig

I asked my husband for a new truck, and this is what I got!
I was thinking of a 2012 Tundra...He evidently had something else in mind...
A 1949 Chevy!
Oh well...it's a pretty cool rig!

I'm not giving up on my Tundra though!! ;)

Sweet Vintage Find

Well, I had a chance to play with the vintage chairs that I found,
and they turned out so sweet I'm going to have a hard time parting with them!
I just love seeing things like this get transformed and brought to new life!

Here's a recap of their original state...

I just love...love...love...them!!
