Tweet Chabby Chateau

I have a fun new project just finished that I wanted to share...
It's a fabulous birdcage I found neglected!
I envisioned it as a beautiful Bird Chateau that could actually house birds or be a fun display!
I currently have it on display at Stars Antique Mall

Check out the before pics on it's sad shape...

Quite a transformation wouldn't you say?
My next project I'm a bit stumped on, but I'm pretty sure
I'm going to whitewash it as well...
Take a look at these beautiful vintage cast iron chairs from the 50's
I just love the design...not sure I can handle the color though!!
I'll post the finished project as soon as I can
stand being out to paint in the cold barn...burrrrr!

Well that's it for now...wishing you a very Merry Christmas
and hope this New Year brings lots of blessings
to you and you family!

What are the Odds?

I had an amazing thing happen the other day that I'm still shaking my head over! I made plans to drive to Vancouver to look at some antlers and some concrete deer for sale. There were two places I called about for the antlers, and I kinda questioned one of them because of the location, so I decided not to go to that one...well, I picked up some antlers at the first location and then went to see the concrete deers. The lady who was selling them said that a guy was coming to see them before me, and may not get them if they are too heavy...well, he didn't get them because they were too heavy for him to carry downstairs!  I don't know what made me think I could carry them, but as I was going up the stairs to the apartment, three guys were heading up there as well, so I mentioned I could use some muscles if they didn't mind helping me! So as they are putting them in the car they notice the antlers in the car I just bought, and one of them said he had just posted an ad for moose and elk antlers on Craigslist and I asked if his name was Rick and he said YES!! He was the guy I was supposed to go see and decided not too! Well, I ended up following him to his house to see his antlers and he ended up giving me a great deal and also had some amazing crystal chandeliers for sale! What are the odds of that happening!! If he hadn't shown up at that exact time, I wouldn't have been able to buy the deer, and would have missed the opportunity to get all the cool stuff from him! Unbelievable!!

I think I am going to have to keep one of these Chandeliers for myself as a remembrance of this special day!

Treasure Trove

This week has been an awesome Treasure Hunting experience!!
Check out my recent cool finds...

I found this really cool concrete grotto that has seen several decades
of repainting, and is now in it's final stage of perfect chippyness!!
As I was searching for the perfect statue to put in it, I ran across
some of the most amazing statuary I've ever seen!
Check out this Lawn Jockey with a real lantern!!

He looks just perfect with my newly found flower cart!
Then I ran down to Silverton to fetch this
"Epitome of Cuteness" from the sweetest little retired couple!

I bet they don't last long...
I still haven't found what I'm looking for to put in the Grotto, but
I'm having fun finding a treasure trove of stuff...

Can't wait to see what I find next...

Queen of Carts

I may not be the Queen of Tartes, but I've just crowned myself the Queen of Carts!!
I've been hunting for an Antique Parisian Style Flower Cart for the past 15 years,
and have finally found one...practically in my own backyard!!
My life is now complete!! ;)
(Til tomorrow)

This incredible cart was built circa 1890 and was used on the streets of New York City!
It's the epitome of Fleurism!!
(Believe it or not that's really a word!)

From Trash to Treasure

I'd like to share with you a project that is dear to my heart...There is a dump in Managua, Nicaragua called La Chureca where thousands of people live! The girls as young as 9 years old are sold into prostitution so their families can get first pick of the garbage! There is a mission organization called Forward Edge International that encountered this atrocity and had a vision to give these girls an alternative by creating a place of refuge called Villa Esperanza (Village of Hope). Here the girls are given their own bed, new clothes, food, health care and education in a beautiful sheltered environment. Check out www.forwardedge.org if you would like more info on sponsoring one of these little treasures!! Here's a picture of my sponsored child...her name is Kenia, she is 13 years old and enjoying her new promising future...
Check out this pic of the dump...
Imagine smelling putrid garbage, smoke and dead animals 24/7!!

Check out the incredible new homes designed for these girls!!

There are currently 23 precious girls who have been rescued from the dump!!
Your decision to help can rescue dozens more in need...

To Paint or not to Paint...

Oh my...it's sometimes so hard to decide if something is going to be ruined in value by painting it! I just ran across a cute 100 year old tea cart that was in bad need of refinishing, but thought it would be so sweet painted white instead. I checked around to find out these beauties sometimes fetch up to $2000, but my heart told me to follow my passion of a total makeover!! Well, I did and I love how it turned out!!

Check out these before pics!

Do you think I made the right choice??

I've got another project up my sleeve...stay tuned!
